Belarusian Investment Forum held in London 14 November 2014

The fourth Belarusian investment forum was held in London. The event continues a series of business meetings, which have clearly demonstrated: foreign partners see Belarus as a reliable and predictable partner. However, the plans to modernize our economy can not be realized without raising capital in the foreign financial market. And the United Kingdom is among the investors in the Belarusian economy, including new directions which were presented to the forum participants.

The forum was divided into several sections: macroeconomics and investment. The head of the Belarusian delegation, chairman of the Development Bank Sergei Rumas pointed out the main goal of the forum which is to show Britain new Belarus and its benefits for investors: European laws, liberal taxation, and access to the markets of the common economic space.

British business is interested in Belarus. This year, the investment amounted to 2 billion dollars. And the bilateral trade is nearing the record figure of three billion. More than 200 enterprises with the participation of the British capital are registered in Belarus.

Tim Macintosh, Managing Director of investing company: “We really want to cooperate with Belarus and have already done a lot in this direction. Within two weeks, we expect to sign an agreement on the establishment of a company in the Minsk region. We plan to work not only on the Belarusian market, but also in the CIS countries.”

Representatives of international financial institutions, multinational companies, investment banks. All they could not only listen to reports, but also see the largest national investment projects, where the state is inviting foreign business and promises mutually beneficial partnership.

During the forum an agreement was signed establishing a Council of business cooperation between Belarus and Britain. The first meeting will be held next year. And this year a business delegation from the United Kingdom will visit Belarus.
