International ratings agency Standard & Poor's affirmed the long-term and short-term sovereign credit ratings of Belarus at B- / B, stable outlook. The forecast was based on a positive assessment of the capability of the Republic of Belarus in 2016 for the timely servicing of the public debt denominated in foreign currency, and maintaining the country's international reserves.

Credit ratings are opinions about credit risk. Standard & Poor’s ratings express the agency’s opinion about the ability and willingness of an issuer, such as a corporation or state or city government, to meet its financial obligations in full and on time.
