Polish businessmen are interested in investing in Belarus, representative of the Polish Chamber of Commerce Jerzy Drozdz told reporters on 1 December.
“Polish businessmen are interested in investing in Belarus. At present the two countries are advancing to a new stage of economic cooperation, from trade to more complicated schemes,” he said. Jerzy Drozdz explained that Polish businessmen prefer Belarus because the two countries are neighbors that have much in common in history and culture. Besides, there are extensive interpersonal contacts between residents of the two countries.
According to Jerzy Drozdz, the signing of the memorandum of intent to intensify cooperation between the National Agency of Investment and Privatization (NAIP) of Belarus and the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency will given an impetus to investment projects and specify the areas of investments.
Director of the NAIP Natalia Nikandrova noted that Polish partners expressed their interest in projects in alternative energy, transport logistics and agriculture. “We invite Polish investors in Belarus. We operate within the legal framework, which is very important, and are ready to draft regulations for specific investment projects, in other words, we are ready to lobby the interests of investors in Belarus,” she emphasized. Natalia Nikandrova stated that the forum aroused great interest in Poland. “We want to challenge the existing stereotypes about Belarus in Western Europe and America, because we are not a closed country,” she noted.
