The event will be hosted at the conference hall of the Belarusian National Library, address: 116, Nezavisimosti Ave., Minsk, from 1.30 to 5.00 p.m.

All participants of the Belarusian Investment Forum as well as Belarusian entrepreneurs, journalists and other interested are invited to attend the fair of business projects fully ready for implementation.

Several dozen young Belarusian entrepreneurs applied for participation in Startup Day with their projects. Finalists were selected based on strategic directions of attracting investment to Belarus: digital technology (electronics, microelectronics, software including mobile applications, web-services and others), biotechnology and pharmaceutics, renewable energy sources and new materials, mechanical engineering, agriculture and food industry.

The fields were selected not at random. As noted by Dmitry Klevzhits, Director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus, the 2012 Belarusian Investment Forum focuses on attracting investment into innovative economy. “These fields create the highest added value, they do not require natural recourses whereas may involve Belarus’ strong scientific potential and a high level of education,” he noted.

According to Mr. Klevzhits, Belarusian government positions itself not only as an organizer of the event but “is prepared to develop the cooperation between the state and private sector investing into promising startup projects”. The best project is to be awarded a BYR300 million governmental grant for business development.
