Belarus is in the lead in the global ranking of information and communication technologies in the post-Soviet space; Belarus has risen compared with the previous year by 5 positions and occupies 31 th place. Such data are contained in a new report by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), informs BelTA referring to the UN News Center.

According to the ITU report, in ICT development ranking among 175 countries of the world Russia is on 43rd position, Kazakhstan is on 52th, Azerbaijan — 55th position, Armenia – 71st minutes, Moldova ranks 68th, Georgia — 72th, Ukraine — 76th. Uzbekistan is on 110th position, Kyrgyzstan ranks 113th.

In the global ranking, the Republic of Korea is in the lead for the second time in a row.

The top ten ICT Development includes seven countries from the European Union, China and Japan. The report also says that 95% of the world population is already covered by a mobile cellular signal, more than 47% of the world's population are connected to the internet.

As reported, the International Telecommunication Union at the Symposium on global indicators in the field of telecommunications / ICT (WTIS-2016), held from 21 to 23 November in Gaborone (Botswana), has published the annual report “Measuring the Information Society 2016”, which includes ICT index development  ranking of 175 countries. According to the report, the index of ICT development in Belarus is 7.26, which corresponds to the 31th place in the ranking.
