The National Agency of Investment and Privatisation Agency organised a two-day study visit to Lithuania for the management of the enterprises participating in the pilot project to attract a strategic investor implemented with the support of the World Bank. The visit programme of the representatives of Minsk Margarine Factory and Konfa Confectionery Factory was drawn up to ensure complete study of the privatisation experience in the neighbouring country.
The management of the two Belarusian enterprises visited the Governmental Property Fund where they learnt the privatisation history and practice in the neighbouring country. Detailed study of the Lithuanian experience of attracting strategic investors took place during the visit to similar company operating in Lithuania and belonging to foreign TNCs: Vilnius Margarine Factory (Vilniaus Margarino gamykla) and Kraft Jacobs Suchard Lietuva confectionery factory.
The Belarusian party was interested in the answers to the following questions in the first place: What is the mechanism of privatisation in Lithuania? What effect has been created by the sale of state property in the neighbouring country? How is the control of investor's fulfilling its obligations ensured? How has the efficiency of operation, specialisation, personnel of the enterprises changed upon their sale?
Besides the management of the enterprises being privatised, a representative of Belgospishcheprom concern and employees of the Agency headed by Director Dmitriy Klevzhits took part in the meetings.

Minsk Margarine Factory OJSC and Konfa are among the eight enterprises participating in the pilot project of search for a strategic investor being implemented by the NAIPA pursuant to Decree of the President No. 273 dd.of 25 May 2010. The advanced global practice followed by the NAIPA in its operation supposes an individual approach to each enterprise and involvement of financial consultants (authoritative investment banks or consulting firms) in the search for a strategic investor. The pilot project is implemented with the assistance of the World Bank.
