The Belarusian Industry Ministry has prepared a package of investment projects worth about $700 million for the sake of utilizing Chinese resources. Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik made the statement during the online conference on 24 September.
Dmitry Korchik said: “The Chinese side has appropriated certain resources. We have done some preliminary work on investment projects worth about $700 million. Minsk Automobile Plant is considering retooling the enterprise at the expense of over $200 million. The holding company Autocomponents has plans for projects relying on Chinese resources. Apart from that, I can mention the new private company Soleo, which intends to make modern hydraulics for the Belarusian automobile industry.”
Apart from that, enterprises accountable to the Industry Ministry are in negotiations with a number of Chinese companies. Minsk Automobile Plant is in negotiations to set up an enterprise to make special vehicles — municipal vehicles, road construction vehicles — using the Mogilevtransmash enterprise located in the free economic zone Mogilev. The Midea-Horizont project is moving on. An agreement to advance the project has been signed. I think the first batch of domestic water heaters will be made at the end of the year. The project targets the domestic market and foreign ones — Russia and other CIS states,” explained Dmitry Korchik.
“China just like India and Pakistan, the Asian market are our strategic partners. It is a direction we should pursue. It represents a huge potential. Apart from that, we see support for joint projects on the part of the Chinese government. The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is one of the biggest projects. Thanks to the industrial park and the enabling of the relevant business conditions Chinese companies show a great interest in placing modern highly effective manufacturing enterprises in Belarus,” stated the Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister.
