In hotel Victoria (59a, Pobediteley Avenue, Minsk) the Belarusian-Latvian business forum will take place on October 20. The event will be held in the framework of Days of Latvian Culture in Belarus “Taste Latvia — Adchuy Latvіyu.”

Forum will call together about 50 representatives of business circles of the two countries, dealing with IT, transport and logistics, finance, banking service and other branches of economy.
The Latvian delegation will include the Minister of Economy, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Belarus, the Director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. The Belarusian side will be represented by the head of economic department, the director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Chairman of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange.

The participants of the business forum will present investment potential of the two countries. The Belarusian side will present the advantages of implementation of investment projects and business environment of the country. In addition, a business matchmaking session will be held, during which business representatives will discuss issues on economic cooperation with potential partners.
An official reception of the Embassy of Latvia in honor of the opening of Days of Latvian Culture in Belarus will finish the program of the forum.
The business forum is organized by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the Republic of Belarus in cooperation with the National Agency of Investment and Privatization and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Days of Latvian Culture in Belarus “Taste Latvia — Adchuy Latvіyu” will last for a month. Till November 20 a series of cultural and business events will take place in Minsk, where the Belarusians will be able to get acquainted with present-day Latvia, Latvian production, culture, art and tourism appeal of the country.

Belarusian and Latvian municipalities show mutual interest in expanding inter-regional cooperation. The Belarusian-Latvian Intergovernmental Commission on economic and scientific-technical cooperation, the Society for Promotion of Belarusian-Latvian economic relations and the Belarusian-Latvian Business Cooperation Council play an important role in strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Latvia is the largest investor in Belarus. The basis of Belarusian export to Latvia is formed by petrochemical products, metal products, wood, fertilizers, food products, rapeseed oil, tractors, textiles and shoes. Brands of Belarusian producers of agricultural and automotive engineering are well-known for Latvian consumers. Assembly of small tractors “Belarus” (MTZ Serviss), construction and municipal vehicles on the chassis “MAZ” (AlkomTrans) has been carried out in Latvia. Since 2014 handling equipment “Amkodor” (Kombainserviss) has been introduced into the Latvian market.
Equipment, food and chemical products, optical devices, pharmaceuticals, textiles and textile products, plastic products are imported from Latvia to Belarus. Mutual trade in transport, tourism, information, computer and business services has been dynamically developing.
