On January 22-23, 2018 the first preparatory meeting of the 26th Economic and Environmental Forum (EEF) of the OSCE, dedicated to the issues of the digital economy, is being held in Vienna.

The event is attended by representatives of 57 states, OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, Coordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities V.Dzhugich, member of the Board of the EAEU on Internal Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies Karine Minasyan, as well as representatives of the business circles and the scientific community.

Elena Kupchina noted the importance of the digital economy in the context of technological progress and globalization. She expressed the opinion that interaction in this area could help overcome economic fragmentation in the OSCE area and build bridges between East and West.

Elena Kupchina emphasized the willingness of the Belarusian side to contribute to the development of the digital topic on the OSCE agenda and share experiences, including taking into account Decree No. 8 "On the Development of the Digital Economy".
In addition, the head of the Belarusian delegation announced the initiative of Belarus to hold in May this year the Digital Forum of Eurasian countries in Minsk to develop various forms of public-private partnership, as well as to harmonize the national digital markets of Europe and Asia, gradually form the Pan-Eurasian digital market space.

During the working session of the meeting devoted to the digital economy as a driving force for growth and interconnection, the main speaker will be General Director of the Infopark association, Chairman of the Confederation of Digital Business of Belarus Vladimir Basko.
