Today pharmaceutical market in Belarus is evaluated at nearly one billion dollars, and there are about thirty public and private enterprises operating. Experts say the interest to the industry has risen – at the moment there are 35 investment projects which have been put to operation.

Among successful examples of making investments in the production of medicines is the Belarusian-Dutch «Farmland». Today it produces infusion and injection solutions for polymer packaging, tests systems used for diagnosing of AIDS, cancer and immunodeficiency virus. According to the plans of the company for the near future, a new factory is going to be build, where they will produce drugs made of human blood plasma. The company is said to be the first one in our country producing that type of drugs.

Next year in the Vitebsk region a new high-tech manufacturing of drugs for the treatment of cancer, autoimmune and severe infectious diseases will open. Some big companies from Lithuania, Belarus and Russia will set up a pharmaceutical factory in Beshenkovichi village. Investment in production is estimated at 15 million dollars. The project is implemented with participation of the Lithuanian investment company «Jia Valda», Russian pharmaceutical company «Biocad» and the Indian company «Natco Pharma».

It is not the first  project carried out in our country with participation of Indian capital. India plans for even more significant partnership in the pharmaceutical industry with Belarus.

“Cooperation between Belarus and India in the pharmaceutical sector is growing strong — says the Ambassador of India to Belarus Manoj Kumar Bharti. — Four pharmaceutical companies from India implemented joint projects on production of medicines with Belarusian partners. But I consider it only a beginning, as in the future we expect Indian companies  to have a bigger share in the Belarusian pharmaceutical market ”.

India is considered  to be the world’s leader in the sphere of production of high-quality medicines. Indian entrepreneurs are going to launch in Belarus some pharmaceutical enterprises by the end of the year 2016.

Now we are talking about three projects worth 75 million dollars, which include production of oncological drugs in cooperation with the concern “Natco Pharma”, development of new vaccines and sera for veterinary in Vitebsk and new lines for the production of tablets and capsules in collaboration with Belmedpreparaty.

“We provide an all-round support to the forums where pharmaceutical companies from Belarus and India take part in, provide assistance to implementation of export contracts and foster industrial cooperation, remove  bureaucratic  and market barriers. We consider Belarus to be among our priorities. At the same time we cooperate with the Chamber of Commerce of India, which has drawn a program of cooperation with Belarus and now is currently implementing it — notes the regional Director of the Council on the promotion of exports of pharmaceutical products  and industry, Government of India Abhay Kumar Sinha. — From our side we express the readiness to support any initiative of our companies to cooperate with Belarusian manufacturers.”

It should be mentioned that all joint projects are aimed at both domestic market and the whole territory of the EAEU and CIS countries.

We would also like to bring your attention to the fact that there is a concept of development of the pharmaceutical industry in Belarus by the year 2020 which has been recently developed. The main idea of it is to create conditions needed for implementing a new innovative model of development of the pharmaceutical industry in Belarus and creation of strong biotechnological and microbiological sectors in the Belarusian economy.
