On 6 August 2015 Kyrgyzstan will become a full-fledged member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).
“The agreement on Kyrgyzstan's accession to the EEU takes effect on 6 August. Kyrgyzstan will become the fifth full-fledged member of the Eurasian Economic Union after Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia,” the EEC said.

Kyrgyzstan took the decision to enter the then Customs Union in spring 2011. In December 2014 Moscow played host to the signing of the document on Kyrgyzstan's accession to the EEU. The protocols to the document were signed in May 2015. Out of all the EEU member states Kyrgyzstan borders on Kazakhstan only.
