Over 200 representatives of the business world took part in the 10th Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum in Mogilev on 4-5 November.
Prime Ministers of Belarus and Lithuania Mikhail Myasnikovich and Algirdas Butkevicius opened this large-scale event. The program of the meeting comprised speeches by representatives of state run public authorities and businessmen of two countries who had been successfully implementing joint projects.
Natalya Nikandrova, director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization, made a report on prospects of the bilateral investment cooperation with special attention to doing business conditions in Belarus, peculiarities of the preferential regimes for foreign investors, and the services provided by the Agency.
According to the participants of the forum, the successful development of the bilateral cooperation is the result of the active work of the Belarus-Lithuania intergovernmental commission as well as the meetings of the business circles at the annual Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum. This year it was organized for the tenth time marking its jubilee.
Belarus – Lithuania economic forums serve as an effective platform for discussion of a wide range of economic issues, joint investment projects, holding negotiations between representatives of the two countries.
Among the organizers of the forum is the Foreign Ministry, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Lithuania, the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, state run public authorities, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Belarus is ranked 9th biggest state-recipient of Lithuanian investments. Lithuanian businessmen invest mainly in wholesale and retail trade, processing industry. Among the largest investment projects is the creation of a woodworking industry complex in the free economic zone Mogilev run by the concern SBA Mebelain and VMG Industry.
