New investment prospects open up for Belarus, Gary Burrows, head of the commercial real estate division at Dana Holdings

New investment prospects open up for Belarus, Gary Burrows, head of the commercial real estate division at Dana Holdings.

“Belarus has a very advantageous geographical position. I sincerely believe that it is destined to become the crossroads of trading routes from Europe and to Europe,” he noted.

“Belarus has a progressive government which has made great efforts to attract foreign companies and create favorable conditions for foreign investors,” said Gary Burrows. According to him, this was clearly seen in the latest World Bank Doing Business.

The Dana Holdings representative noted: shopping malls are built throughout Belarus, which creates additional conditions for the arrival of foreign companies. “Recently I was in London where I met with retailers and talked to them about their participation in our projects. They got interested,” he said.

Opportunities are many in the country, the expert believes. Some 200m2 of retail space account for 1,000 of population in Western Europe. In Belarus it just 50m2. "I recently wrote an article for the social network Linkedin about the doing business opportunities in Belarus," Gary Burrows noted.

The international investment and civil engineering group of companies Dana Holdings is now busy building 5 million m2 of real estate in Eastern Europe. Dana Holdings has been working in Belarus since 2006 and is the largest real estate developer on the Belarusian market. The company is represented in Belarus by its three divisions: Dana Astra, Zomex Investment, and Belinte Roba. Among its major projects in Belarus are the multipurpose centers Minsk Mir and Mayak Minska and a shopping and entertainment center Dana Mall.
