The statement was made by President of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists Robertas Dargis during the 10th Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum in Mogilev on 4 November.

Robertas Dargis,
President of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists
The President of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists drew attention to the fact that Mogilev and the oblast had been specifically chosen to host the anniversary economic forum. The region is Belarus' leader in attracting foreign direct investments, including Lithuanian capital. Seven investment projects involving Lithuanian businessmen have been implemented in Mogilev Oblast. The largest one is the creation of a furniture industry complex in the free economic zone Mogilev. The complex comprises a chipboard factory, a cabinet furniture factory, a plywood factory as well as a factory run by the concern SBA Mebelain.
According to Lithuanian businessmen, Mogilev Oblast's favorable geographical location is an important advantage. The region is situated at the internal border of the single economic union of Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan, granting its residents additional advantages on the markets of the three countries at once with the population of about 160 million people. The well-developed transport infrastructure also contributes to successful business.
The implementation of yet another Lithuanian project will begin in Mogilev Oblast soon. The group of companies ARVI intends to build an enterprise in the region to grow, slaughter and process turkey meat. The investments will be roughly €40 million. The Lithuanian company also intends to invest about €21 million in the modernization of OAO Belynichi Protein Factory. Plans have been made to build two more manufacturing lines there to process animal origin waste with the output capacity of 40,000-45,000 tonnes per annum.
VII International Investment Forum “Mogilev region — THE WAY TO SUCCESS” (5-7 November 2014, Mogilev, Republic of Belarus) was held biennially and traditionally attended by representatives of well-known international banks, European business organizations, regional and national authorities, chambers of commerce of foreign countries, governments from more than 20 countries.
